Believe it or not, it was bolted to a plaque, holding a cutoff drop to create a bison skull wiht a Brooks frame when I got it in a box from a closet cleanout.



As a Japan's cyclist since 1975, I haven't seen or heard of Alps original stem.

Yes, they made it.

The badge of the pic is different from Alps head badge.
This is the Alps badge for me.



Old Alps catalogs from the following sight show no original stems:

But I cannot affirm this stem isn't Alps original.
Alps was founded in 1918.
They might make stems earlier day than 1960's, when those catalogs were made.
And the badge might have changed.
