Obviously all this is just personal opinion of ours, so this a personal opinion of mine.

If we're talking about manufactured bikes and not custom made bikes, my vote goes to Fuji Team. I don't own one, but I do have the Fuji Club, and they both used the exact frame, just the Club had lower grade wheels and components. But the quad butted tubing proved to be the most ridged steel road frame of any manufacture in the 80's.

However, if you look at touring bikes, the best one by far was the Miyata 1000.

Going to custom built, the best in my opinion was Nagasawa, but they were Keirin bikes.
