I have one century to my name. Back in the 70s, not long after buying my Schwinn Continental, I joined a group of NY Central Park guys and rode up to Nyack and back. Never again, that 40 pound bike on those hills took all the fun out of cycling. Even after moving on to lighter bikes I was permanently scarred, see no value in riding long distance, and I avoid hills as much as possible.
