Me too. This is the second saddle that I've encountered this problem with this post. I don't think tapping the hole further would do it as the 8mm hex part of the shank is bottoming out on the top of the hole. Maybe, I could countersink the hole a bit... that's a thought I suppose.

No, the saddle isn't well below horizontal at all. It's not far down enough in front to be horizontal yet. The two saddles I've encountered this with are a Brooks B.17 and an E3 Form saddle, which is the one I'm trying out now.
