I’ve found out that the circuit in the 12V light uses a voltage regulator and the 3 LEDs are connected in series. However, in the 6V light, the 3 LEDs are connected in parallel with a resistor each.

I will modify the board to work with 6V. Just need a diode and three 180ohm resistors. Would be much easier than to get a new light!
