I wouldn't put much money towards the bike just leave it in the ring you want and don't shift the front and if you really love that then find the bike that has what you are looking for. Upgrades would be rather expensive for a initially low cost bike. If you are desperate to spend money on that bike I would look at Microshift's AdventX groupset but I would rather just save the money towards what I really want. You may also find that you don't love 1x or it could also be the gearing sucks but luckily a nicer purpose built 1x gravel bike will generally have better gearing and of course parts and possibly frame and fork if you put money towards it.
