( I noted creeping rust under the paint at braze ons and especially at top tube internal cable exits, all predictable, but notable)
in my assessment, there was a push to add on braze-ons, keeping in mind that for decades the vast majority of these machines were just out of date used bikes.
120 v 126 spaced, lacking the forest of added braze ons, archaic brake attachment.
‘Collecting and restoring old bikes was not a popular thing.
