FWIW: Sunlite makes both chromed and black steel skewer nuts that are stylistically a decent match for many C&V skewers. Here's a photo, from an eBay listing.

Photo doesn't show the dropout side, but it it knurled - not quite as sharply as some, but IMO well enough to grip. (I own 2 pair of these, so I checked one to make sure.) Mine are the chromed variety; they seem to be fairly well-built and finished.

They're available from multiple vendors on eBay for quite a reasonable price: about $8/pair plus sales tax, shipped, to US addresses.

Not a perfect solution, but workable if you need a set of skewer nuts of that style and can't immediately find the exact ones needed to match an existing skewer or set.
