Note that it is the Congressional Gold Medal, not Presidential. Still, it takes 2/3 co-sponsorship of both the House and Senate before it can be voted on, so an impressive display of bipartisanship.

Fascinating read on that award, he’s rubbing shoulders with some impressive recipients - and deservedly so! I was a young rider when he won his second TdF. He was and still is my top cycling hero.
