Yes, sometimes the troll threads turn into fascinating discussions of some side point; thereafter, the troll usually disappears, since there's apparently little satisfaction to be gained from a troll thread that has turned legitimate.
For instance, here's a topic: I assume that I'm not alone in, having shifted into my "In Case of Emergency Break Glass" ultimate bail-out gear, feeling cheated that it's only marginally, barely perceptibly easier than the other gear I was just in. If this world were fair, it would feel like climbing with an e-bike.
