Bikes: 98 Trek 6000 MTB, 70's mutant St. Etienne

Thanks to SpeedofLite for posting these old issues! I will probably never collect a herd of bikes and still have never owned a really high-end one. I lived near Nashville in the mid 70's and got a low end to middling French St. Etienne bike branded with CDI. There were Italian ones too. I wanted to upgrade it and my bike shop friend put me in touch with Harlan Meyer. Meyer himself built up wheels for me on Weinmann 210 1-1/4 x 27 rims. The rear was a 36 hole hi-lo flange with a weird 3 cross pattern of his on the drive side and radial on the low side. He did the 36 hole front with a 1 cross pattern. Knowing nothing about the QRs, I quickly changed them over to the M. M. Atom ones I still use just because i wanted a bigger handle to grab. Until my Covid summer 2020 sentimental rehab of the bike, they were the wheels he built up. I re-did the front wheel with his pattern and new spokes. These sealed bearing hubs have 45 plus years and thousands of miles on them. Before replacing the tire and tube, I taped a 1" #6 screw to the front rim by the tube stem hole, held it up and let it roll to check the friction. With just that little bit of extra weight, the screw rolled down, swung back and forth like a pendulum 8-10 times and stopped dead center at the bottom. Thanks to juvela,T-mar, verktyg, bikemig and others for wisdom and info during the rebuild. Thanks to Catnap for a 36 hole high flange near NOS Hi-E rear the same age to replace the hi-lo that got broken during years of storage. If anyone has a pair of Weinmann 210 36 hole rims they would part with, please let me know.
