I'm starting to think that was a mistake, the short reach really complicates securing the bike to another object.
Do you trust those folding locks? Read many articles showing how easily bolt cutters go through them.
Well, my research shows that while vast majority of folding locks provide inferior security to that of U-locks, that particular high end Bordo is an exception. It is vulnerable to small and very specific tool that can take out joint pin, and is obviously useless vs angle grinder, but it stands up to bolt cutters well enough. Since there is no such thing as invulnerable lock, I will take it as a deterrent. The good thing in my setup is that the Kryptonite chain I am using has large link on one side that can be used by beefy U-lock, but the link on the other side is too narrow, with Bordo fitting in just fine.
I had same issues with mini U-lock, the solution I found was using separate build in frame lock and chain attachment to secure rear wheel and front wheel, while using small U-lock to solely secure frame to bike rack. I successfully used this set up for years while locking $3k e-bike to rack inside garage 5 days a week for 8 hours at the time during day job. Bike never got stolen. But I have also taken the battery and headset control unit with me, so there’s that.
Here is the photo of me using mini U-lock back in the day.
