Alas, in my case I didn't think to specify a forward opening dropout, and wasn't that a mistake! I occasionally flirt with the idea of dismantling my Mercian and sending it to a talented frame builder to have the rear track ends replaced with long forward-opening dropouts perpendicular to the seat stays - but then I remember that the tire clearance is sub-optimal as well.
