#1: The '84 road machines were primarily Japanese-made machines from a single company. Other models in the lineup, such as the touring machines (my Alyeska, for one), were Taiwanese production.

I’ve had an Alyeska for only a few days

VERY happy with it - and the way it rides

I was expecting it to have been made in Taiwan.

The rear mech is date coded Dec ‘83

The frame number starts with 4, so 1984.

BUT

The first letter isn’t an M or N

Seems to be C (possibly G)

Any suggestions of where it was made?

OK
My guess is that it's a "G" for Giant so made in Taiwan. I have a Raleigh Wyoming of a similar vintage, and I believe it was made in Taiwan. It also rides well, especially with a load.
