Are these shoes SPD MTB cleat compatible?

My 20 year old MTB shoes finally exploded the other day.
I use SPD MTB pedals on my road bikes.
Before I go shoe shopping again, would these spare road shoes of mine take an SPD MTB cleat?
It kind of looks like it might . There are two slots and a rectangular knock out on the inside of the sole.

Clumsy for walking but easier than constantly jugfling shoes and bikes and pedals.
