If I am having issues and everything is adjusted properly which might not be the case but I will assume that it was and it is just Claris. If you are looking for new stuff I would probably look at a bike with the components I want. I wouldn't spend a lot of time and money trying to upgrade this. Generally if a bike comes with Tourney or Claris the rest of the bike isn't all that great.
