I encountered the same thing when my arm was severed in an industrial accident. The doc wanted me to go to the hospital, and he keep ignoring my suggestion to just glue it back on. Incompetent and definitely soft.
Probably were trying to use the wrong glue. You have to use hot glue in those situations to properly cauterize the wound.
