Thanks for the info. Now that I know which position is which it will make adjustment much easier! Sometimes it is hard to hear the rub on the FD due to the plastic inserts and I can't get a good look at the inside of the cage due to viewing angle. I finally resorted to a strip of .010" business card to determine if there was any rubbing.
The Shimano dealer manual shows the hash mark that indicates the proper adjustment of the T-trim position. I guess more experienced mechanics would know whether and by how much to deviate from this mark, but I just follow the manual.
