Another Shimano 4.5mm shifter boss quandary?

Another in the list of questions on early Shimano shifters and adapters that relate to an 84 Ross Signature Triad I have for sale. hazetguy asked for pics on the sale section. This bike came to me with Shimano 6 speed indexed shifters.

1984 Ross Signature Triad

My understanding is that this is the old style. The bike was a fb marketplace purchase. Story was a deceased older gentleman had it. I bought it for the triple crank. Research of course revealed the triple and indexed shifter were from a more recent time frame. I would assume that the older gentleman went to a shop in the later 80s to get his bike modified. It even had flat bars on it when I purchased it.

As purchased

My question then centers around what I have. Will older style friction shifters screw on to these bosses? These take the 4.5mm screw. I wanted to have a bit of knowledge when answering questions. I know from reading and searching these things in the past that it has been asked many times before. Does mine have the elusive unicorn conversion adapter? I’m not even sure which parts that entails.

6 speed indexed

So, do these shifters need to go with the frame, or can it be used with earlier friction shifters? Is this the kit that would make my departed 85 Ironman into an indexed 6 speed? Are these shifters valuable enough to be sold separately? I did some searching but everything was vague. Thanks for any info.
