The straps appear to me have been threaded through a Campagnolo or similar style strap loop. Use them on alternate pedals that do not apply the same load. If they have been twisted across the pedal 1st eliminate that twist. The advantage of changing the ‘“length” can move the clasp engagement to a fresh region. Will hold batter.
