i think the higher temps need adjusting -- ideally ride in no clothes. i have actually cycled in 120F + sun factor weather and believe me its not fun. all i had on was my coolmax spandex shorts and my camelback, and my shoes, helmet, etc. can you say constant hydration? the sick thing was, i was so psyched about sticking it out as the only guy who'd do this, that i ran out of water and became dehydrated. i felt like i was flying, i was so thirsty that i ceased to be thirsty. does that make sense? my mind was boiling and i couldn't gauge how tired i was anymore. all the pain seemed to melt away. luckly by then i had turned back towards home. i checked my watch and it was 4 hours later! i remember the next morning i went to get my shorts to wash and they had turned white. white with all the salt i lost. i could have gotten heatstroke and died out on the trail, but i know that if i ever have to do that again for some reason, i need to stop and refill my bottles and hydro pack.

oh and at 130F+ lie down, hold your bike, and accept death.
