Super rare early-80s Araya Aero-822. Made in Japan with Tange Aerodynamics tubing (both the seat and down tubes are ovalized). Also, the fastback seat stays and chain stay bridge are teardrop shaped. The fork has a Cinelli-style semi sloping crown. The rear dropouts are SunTour Pro with adjusters. This model has numerous aero parts including the Tange AR-202 headset, Dia-Compe Aero Gran Comp 300 brakes, SR AeroX crank with 52/42 rings, SunTour top mount asymmetric shifters, Shimano 600 AX seat post, Kashimax Aero saddle in blue and MKS Esquartz pedals. Hubs are Suzue Juno laced to Araya Aero clincher rims with double butted spokes. Derailleurs are SunTour Cyclone. The 6 speed freewheel is SunTour, 13-21. Bottom bracket, handlebar and stem are SR. The original chain is made by D.I.D (Japan). Includes original Araya aero water bottle ! The bike appears to be completely original except for the front tire. Both front and rear hold air but the sidewalls have deteriorated and should be replaced. The Benotto handlebar tape is original and in decent condition. The original brake hoods were completely rotted and have been replaced with the correct shaped hood (made by A'ME). The paint has some minor chips/surface rust in places (the interior of the frame is rust-free). The decals are mostly intact but have wear. There is chrome loss on the pedal spindles. I replaced the brake and shift cables (brake housing is original). Headset/bottom bracket and hubs have been serviced. Seat tube measures 53cm (center to center). Top Tube measures 56cm (center to center). There's not much information available on these models so I don't believe there are many out there. I really nice example of the early 80s aero craze. More pictures available. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks !
