Some time around 1980 I got a wild hair to clean my bike tires with STP Son of a Gun. Things got squirrely within a block of the house so I didn't do any hard cornering because I knew quickly this was a dumb idea.

These days I'll hit them with a brush and soapy water when I wash my bikes. And while I try to keep my bikes looking presentable, other than from people that have never seen a skin wall tire before, I don't think I've ever got a comment on how my tires look.
