Zwift's Click has to run thru the Zwift app to get its signal to the trainer. Thought they had a technical reason for this, but I think maybe because the Play has to go through the app since it does things other than change gears.
There’s certainly a use case for gear simulation on trainers, but it seems like Zwift are the first to actually offer it, although limited by its App dependency. I honestly think none of the other manufacturers had given it any thought beyond Smart bikes where there are no physical gears.
