Shimano SPD cleat / pedal combo question - will this work?
Recently purchased a set of Shimano M540 pedals - came with the SH51 cleats which I installed on one (of two) pairs of shoes. Work great (obviously).

Now looking to put a set of cleats on my smooth soled road shoe - and have come across the SH71 cleat with the pontoon to protect the cleat. I have not been able to find anything saying if they are or are not compatable. So what say you the knowledgable folks of BikeForums.
