This thread has gotten me 100% in touch with my OCP-ness. I'd like a membership application so I can proudly showcase the OCP avatar.

I love riding. My work (80+ hours a week as a resident) makes it tough to ride as much as I'd love to, but when I ride I want to have a comfortable, cool bike that I'm proud of and that begs to be ridden fast.

For example, my latest purchase--A Fizik Aliante Carbon saddle. Could I get that kind of comfort from a 350g monster saddle? I'm sure I could find one, but I had some extra cash and I couldn't pass up the cool factor of getting a cushy ride in a 190g package that looks really cool. Am I a poseur because I'm not a Cat 1 racer? Is there some moral code that I'm violating because I don't DESERVE to ride nice equipment due to my failure to meet my weekly mileage requirements?

My Flyte is a far cry from the $5000 uber-bikes, but I love it. I love the cool components on it. I love my FSA carbon cranks even though they probably work the same as Ultegra. I love my Rudy Project sunglasses and my Giro Pneumo. I love my Sidi Genius 4's, my too-expensive De-Feet socks, and my PI 3D Pro bibs, even though there's nothing "pro" about me. I love whatever carbon/Ti seatpost I put on to smooth out the ride a little. And I love riding it while wearing my Discovery jersey because I get a big kick out of knowing that it seriously pisses off some jackasses in cyberspace.

I'll just wait for the approval to use the OCP icon so I'm not being a poseur
