”way back machine”: I spent a lot of time wondering what straps to make/buy then happen to visit Browns of Beverly on Cabot St in Beverly, MA. Saw an early 70’s Raleigh 3 spd there with plain bright steel straps. “That’s what I’ll do.” Browns is long gone now. Sad.
