Thanks for all the info. Sounds like I'll be ok. Sounds like I might want to replace my clipless with platforms for the ride, although the are mountain SPDs, so I'd probably be ok if I didn't.

There's a chance I might have a new fixed/single speed before then. If I do, maybe I'll even ride that in freewheel mode.
