Cycling as transportation is cheap. Cycling as a hobby is fairly expensive, and thus attracts generally wealthier-than-average individuals. This tends to map with higher education levels.
Don't forget the guy who lived in a gardening shed, in the woods by the railroad track. He brought down the average wealth statistics a little.
