I did it in 84 with a 3 sp folder. When I went to register the man said that people with strange bikes were to go to the front so he gave me a special pass. It made the ride much more enjoyable. The only bad road part was shortly after passing over to Queens. Try and put on 28 mm tires. Quite a lot of riding for that day as I also rode in from the far end of Queens.
