We liked to spend some time sitting in the lobby of the Chateau Frontenac, having a drink and watching the goings on.

One evening, there was a Tupperware convention -- not kidding. Limos, party frocks, the whole thing as only the Quebeçois can do it. As we watched the spectacle, a lady of a certain age unsteadily descended the staircase into the lobby, clearly three sheets to the wind and then some. Floating above her was a bouquet of balloons, must have been a dozen of them. She proceeded to head for the main exit -- a huge revolving door -- at this point walking on her ankles, unable to maintain her balance on her stiletto heels. Mrs. Badger said "watch this!" and sure enough, Our Lady of Sore Ankles made it into the revolving door, but her balloons were then trapped, along with her, on the inside. She could not figure out how to make her escape. Finally, after much tugging and pulling and falling once or twice, hotel staff came to her aid, freed her balloons and the revolving door, and escorted her out and into her waiting car.

Certainly not the most 'special' moment of our stay, but a highlight nevertheless!
People watching is a wonderful pastime
