I was riding the loop around Tucson a while back, and there were a couple roadrunners just off the path. I guess I spooked it pretty good, because it started out running (as usual) down the path, and then, even though I wasn't really catching up, decided it was time to fly away.

Just remembered the cicadas from a few years back. Deafeningly loud, of course, but big enough to see them flying and on the trees as I was riding.
