Though you both tour in Iowa it sounds like you and NC are on the opposite ends of the spectrum as far as gear needs lol.In addition to loading my jersey pockets with food and water (and toilet paper,paper towels etc.I tend to accumulate along the way)if I have any extra room it is usu. more food(high in potassium+sodium) and water I add.You will be surprised how fast water in a camelback goes and it is helpful to have a small reserve less accessable.Also I always take a windbreaker in a stuff sack as I never trust the weather reports.
