I just bought a used Etrex 30 for the purpose of bikepacking and cross country ski multi day trips. I like the battery life on this, but the map on it is useless. It only has highways. Is it worth buying the expensive Garmin map for my region (Canada), and every other I may visit, or are there good free maps I could upload to the device (like OSM), and how would I do that?
For national parks, I love the Avenza maps on my phone app. I don't suppose those work on a Garmin?
