Many thanks folks, it finally worked! My other question now is how to connect to Etrex to my computer. Can I do this with wifi? It does seem to have the capability, but can't seem to detect any devices, and just keeps on searching. Also, do you use Garmin Connect as a software? I have an account there, but it seems like there are other Garmin apps. My goal is really good mapping and elevation profiles, and not so much health and performance stats.
I don’t think the eTrex has WiFi at all. Think what you are seeing is transferring route files via BT.
You connect your eTrex using a cable (like you did for the maps).
You can copy route/track files to the eTrex (using a cable). It doesn’t matter too much where you get or create route/track files from.
If you are recording activities, they should get uploaded to the Garmin Connect if you have Garmin Express running on your PC.
