For all the fad of flat tops, I think some of the interest is from poor fitting. In other words, the flat top is compensating for having handle bars that might not be the best choice.
I have aluminum ITM Millienium bars on my road bike. Nothing fancy, they have an almost classical reach / drop region. You might call it semi-anatomical. Lots of positions for my hands and they're very comfortable in the drops and bar ends. As Granny notes, this is purely personal, but you don't have to get caught up in the expense of flat bars unless you want to.
That said, I think FSA makes clip-ons that fit with their wing bars.
