Brompton has strong brakes, right out of the box. I don't why you see posts like this. I could see this comment if you were doing loaded touring in the mountains. Even in the rain, and I was caught in a downpour, a couple of days back, the brakes were fine. At the start of a downpour, you have to run the brakes to clear the initial water, which is oily, but once they start exerting friction, you're good after that.
