Another Carbon Seatpost Question
Yes, I've read the "Carbon Colonoscopy" horror stories, but I'd still like to get a carbon seatpost for a new gravel bike I'm building up. The issue is that I have rather a lot of exposed seatpost - 10 inches from seat tube junction to saddle rail. I'm about 30mm away from the minimum insertion line with a 400mm post. My question is whether I can go closer. Specifically I'd like to use a Specialized Roval Terra post, but they come in a 380mm length that would put me about 1 cm from minimum insertion. The post is rated for 240 lb. - a good 55 lb more than I'd be putting on it, and I'm pretty confident in the QC of Specialized products (as I am in my ability to properly use a torque wrench and carbon assembly paste).
The question is, is 1 cm from minimum insertion just too close? I can find other posts that are 400 or 420mm that will give me 3-5 cm above minimum insertion if necessary, but like the look/weight/price/reputation of the Specialized post (going as it is on a Specialized bike).
