To be fair though, those long scoreless games can be ended with excellent shootouts in which each team gets to stand right in front of the giant goal and see who can blast more shots past a goalie with a 50% chance of lunging the wrong way.
Maybe just use those and dispense with the 90 minute snooze-fest.
