The odds that they would "exchange" the parts are even lower. The 600 stuff has a higher cool factor than Ultegra, I can't see going thru the effort and potential fraud to get stuff with less value(percieved not actual value)
This is a very good point. And yes - always good to approach your LBS with at least some tact when not completely certain. It makes eating that humble pie later a lot easier.
