That sounds like a very cool bike, I'd love to see it. I'm especially intrigued by the tubeless wheels. I guess I hadn't really looked into it, but didn't realize you could get tubeless wheels sized for these vintage mountain bikes.

Since the '89 is more of a nostalgia bike for me, I'd like to stay close to the spirit of the original. I also have this '91 Comp that I'm more willing to resto-mod as it doesn't have the same sentimental value to me, but is nevertheless a very nice bike (I've already shown this one here a while ago). I have all the components for a modern cockpit with threadless stem, but haven't installed them yet. I will even consider a modern 1x drivetrain and tubeless wheels for it.
