A few years back, I made a stiffener for mine so that it would hold its shape nicely without a decaleur. I normally use a smaller bag on the two bikes that I own that are set up for front bag use. It seems a decent compromise, but I really like to keep the bars free of attachments (other than the stem and brake levers).
