They're not high enough for altitude training. I stayed at
Glacier Lodge above Big Pine a couple times. One step above camping. Another possibility is
Rock Creek Lakes Resort. Cabins are decent, restaurant serves good basic fare. Pretty high at almost 10,000 feet.
