Yup, I hear you. I have no interest in new shifters and wheels. I know that my existing (xt thumbies) will work with 8 speeds, but I can't put an 8 speed cassette on my ( ~'94 ) LX freehub. I'm also fine with buying a new one, but I love a good horse-trade, hence posting here!
