I've bought wheelsets that were alleged to be lighter than what I had but I never verified. I'm 20# overweight, a few pounds on the bike one way or the other is irrelevant to me. Really, this discrepancy, if it exists, only matters if you choose for it to matter. Of our largish riding group, I don't think there are more than a couple who could say what their bikes weigh.
