While heading back down Mt Hamilton today with my retired ranger buddy, he pointed out to me the bald eagle nest in a eucalyptus tree.
No eagles so far this year, but last year was a bit of a scene, as one of the eagles dropped a baby red tail hawk into the nest:
The story gets weird, as the eagles raised the hawk instead of eating it. But
they weren't model parents. They brought another hawk to the nest, but ended up eating it.
Wow, that's wild.
