Thank you everyone for your responses. All of your advice is excellent and great encouragement. The mechanical aptitude is there and I am sure that I'll figure it out but I want to learn the general maintenance stuff. There is a Co-op near me and I will certainly look in to joining it when I get back from my upcoming road trip. As far as location goes, I will try to change my profile when I figure that out.
