You can use the same fork and just have the steerer tube cut off and a new section brazed on. Depending on the knowledge of the person doing the brazing, it could be the entire steerer tube (more knowledge required) or just cut off a few inches from the crown and another tube butted on with internal union.

The whole vibe I'm going for in this build is mid-90s, and centered on the 7410 Dura Ace groupset, so threadless is not in the cards. Also, it's a carbon fork with, I believe, a steel steerer and aluminum crown, so even though I do now know a talented framebuilder, I'd prefer to leave well enough alone.

Funny thing is, though - my first road bike, purchased back in 1995, was a 1994 Cannondale R500, which came with the then-new AHeadSet. So, yeah, threadless is not out of the question for mid-90s. But it IS out of the question for this build.
