In the bike shop where I worked in the mid-'70's, the display boxes of handlebar tape in the glass display case were Velox Tressostar and Tressorex for cloth tape and Hunt-Wilde and Velox Plastilac for plastic tape.

Here's a place where you can apparently still buy European vintage plastic tape.
