Entering a ‘Flow State’
Just listened to one of my favorite podcasts, Hidden Brain, and the interviewee discussed flow states where whatever your doing seems effortless. Almost like transcended from your regular activity into one of peacefulness where accomplishment is not purposeful but happens by itself.
I have had that feeling downhill skiing, where the turns are effortless, and to the point of being unconscious. Also has happened when running up a long climb (2 miles with a 2000’ gain), or when running a multi-mile effort where the endorphins take over.
In cycling I have surprised myself with a number of PRs where I didn’t purposefully push to get them, but got into a high energy state or rhythm, without even knowing it, and blasted the old one. This doesn’t happen often but occasionally.
Am wondering how many of my compatriots find themselves in a flow where the miles go by effortlessly or accomplishments come out of no-where?
